RUTH HOLT // weaver

Ruth holt // WeaveR

ABOUT ME

I weave using silk and wool yarns and a 24 shaft Weavebird loom. Silk gives an intensity of colour, sheen and softness, wool a little more body and warmth. Some designs use plain coloured yarns but for others I dye the silk warp threads using the traditional ikat methods. I love the differences in colour and texture that can be achieved with looms of the size and complexity I use. The final outcome, never completely predictable, is a result of interaction between weft, warp and weave structure.
